A delicious medley of salty, tangy, and savory flavors, it's traditionally served with steamed rice. Bistek (Spanish: bistec) or bistec is a Spanish loan word derived from the English words " beef steak " abbreviated. Filipino beef steak, or bistek, is a staple in every household in the Philippines.

The ingredients needed to make bistek:
- Get 1 lb beef
- Make ready 1 large lemon
- Prepare 1/4 cup soy sauce
- Get 2 clove garlic
- Take 1/2 small onion
- Take 1 tbsp cornstarch

It is comprised of thin slices of beef and a generous amount of onions. These are stewed in a soy sauce and lemon juice mixture until the beef gets very tender. Steps to make bistek:
- marinate beef with soy sauce , lemon juice, & sugar for about 1 hour or overnight.
- preheat pan and add 2tbsp oil. Add mince garlic then onion.
- Add marinated beef when onions turned soft & golden. Simmer til beef is cook then add the cornstarch dissolve in 3tbsp water to thicken sauce.
- Add pepper to taste and serve with rice :) . Enjoy!

In a nonreactive bowl (non-metal), mix kalamansi juice, soy sauce, and garlic. Taste it, if it's too sour, add soy sauce; if it's too salty, add more juice.
